The basic supplies

What you will need to get started depends on the type of album you are using.

"Must have" supplies

Top Loading Albums
(8 1/2"x11" or 12"x12" pages)

(Creative Memories, Pioneer, Frances Meyer, 20th Century Photo, etc.)

Specialty Page Albums

(Creative Memories, Close To My Heart, Hallmark, any post bound album, any spiral bound album)

  1. Cardstock in the appropriate size
  2. Adhesive- I recommend starting with photo splits (also called photo tabs.)
  3. Acid free, lignin free mounting paper
  4. Straight edge scissors
  5. Black pen for journaling. Needs to be acid free and permanent.
  6. Page protectors
  1. Album refill pages
  2. Adhesive- I recommend starting with photo splits (also called photo tabs.)
  3. Acid free, lignin free mounting paper
  4. Straight edge scissors
  5. Black pen for journaling. Needs to be acid free and permanent
  6. Page protectors are a must if you have children so purchase them at the beginning and prevent accidents from the very start.

Supplies that are nice to have

  1. Personal paper trimmer- I recommend the Fiskars 12" Portable Paper Trimmer
  2. Circle Cutter
  3. Basic Template (I recommend "circles and ovals" by Creative Memories)
  4. Die Cuts
  5. Decorative Rulers
  6. Set of scrapbooking pens in 8 colors
  7. Reference books (Core Composition is a great book on page layouts and The Art of Writing Scrapbook Stories by Mt. Olympus Publishing is a great book to help you with your journaling.)
  8. Decorative Scissors
